Poker in Angeles City

Poker slowly gaining popularity in Metro Angeles.

The Game of Poker originated from the United States a long time ago, even during the time of Cowboys and Indians. But the Texas Hold'em version only became popular in the US during the 90's and now it’s slowly finding its way to a lot of Asian countries including the Philippines. Live Poker has slowly but surely been gaining popularity as the game of choice among young local crowds in Angeles City. Since it was first started by PAGCOR last 2005 at Casino Filipino Paranaque, live poker industry in Angeles City has been experiencing a steady growth. From having only 1 poker room in 2007, as of this time there are already 3 poker rooms in Angeles City (5th Street, Double Aces & Wild Aces Poker Club) plus 1 in Dau, Mabalacat (Squeeze Poker Club) and 1 in Clark (Casablanca Casino) making a total of 5 poker clubs just in the vicinity of Metro Angeles in a span of 1 year. Most of the table games you'll find inside the poker rooms are the 25/50 and 10/20 blind no limit games. Metro Angeles actually ranks 2nd among all the cities in the Philippines with the most poker clubs. This may be attributable to the fact that Angeles has a large number of expats and tourists due to its close proximity to Clark International Airport and also because of its booming red light district which dates back to the time when Clark was still occupied by the Americans. It's a better choice than playing roulette, baccarat or even black jacks where games are rigged in favor of the house because in poker you don't play against the house but you play against one another. In order to win at poker one will need lots of skills and lots of luck. Good math skills is essential to get ahead in this game because statistics plays a major role in knowing which cards to bet and which cards to fold. Although local Angeles City Crowd is still the minority at live poker games and they comprise of players who are mostly in their 20s and 30s. Poker is still at its infancy stage but it shall continue to grow as more kids who play online matures and soon shall be able to afford to play live poker.
